chriscol, do you have any opinion as to how the German teams might do in their UEFA Cup matches on Thursday?

After Hamburger's nice 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich on the weekend (nice call btw), I would think they are in a very good frame of mind as the travel to Denmark to play a somewhat inferior FC Copenhagen. I am close to pulling the trigger but thought we could all beneft from your insight. Price is nice at +110 (2.1)

Also, I am a little surprised to see Mainz a +190 (2.9) underdog at home to Sevilla after they managed to hold the Spanish side to a 0-0 draw away. I realize Mainz form has not been very good, but then again, Sevilla's form has not been great either. Even at (pk) +110, Mainz look like good value.

Domzale seem very strong in the Slovenian domestic league, especially at home, but this cannot be compared to playing a club from the Bundesliga. Stuttgart go into the 2nd leg with a 2-0 lead and a draw would be more than enough for them to advance so I don't know if I can trust Stuttgart to go for the win in Slovenia. 2-0 is not a huge lead heading out on the road but, if Stuttgart just play defensively, I am sure they could hold Domzale to 0-0.

Any opinions, insight or news of who is likely to play and who is likely to be rested would be GREATLY appreciated :toast:

I forgot to mention Leverkusen but it seems a little hopeless having to travel to Bulgaria down 1-0 after losing at home in the first leg. Is CSKA Sofia that good or did Leverkusen screw up badly at home. Perhaps it was due to key injuries for the German side or not capitalizing on opportunities to score??

I am not Chris, but i live in Hamburg and i know HSV very well, because my father is HSV-Fan more than 30 Years and i have seen a lot of games with them. Just one word: Be very carefull. Against Bayern everybody is pumped and this is for everybody an easy game. Then you have to include the circumstances: The Media, The Beer that was promised to fans, the long series of winning Bayern had made them tired and not hungry anymore. I was in the AOL-Arena on Saturday and i knew already in the first 5 minutes, that HSV will win easy, because Bayern played with tired legs. I have seen so many teams winning against Bayern and then tank afterwards. S04 beat Bayern last Season and afterwards didn't win a game anymore and at the end they were 17 Points or so behind Bayern. And Kopenhagen will be a much harder task for HSV then Bayern on that day, believe me. And one thing more: Everybody in Hamburg is talking after the Bayern-Game of winning the Champion-Ship and winning the Uefa-Cup. People and Media are starting to get totally out of controll and that after they won 1 game against Bayern in 10 Years or so and after only 7 games played in Bundesliga. Maybe HSV could ride the momentum, but a failure tonight against Kopenhagen wouldn't be a surprise at all. I would rather put my money on Mainz then on HSV.

Just my 2 cents

Cheers,

Patrick

i do like hamburg..they will not go down. they are still the better team than kopenhagen and to get into uefa-groupe stage is still worth lots of money which they need.

i dont like the other remaining german matches that have not yet started (berlin and MainZ)
